Ralph Pallen Coleman

Ralph Pallen Coleman (1892 - 1968) was active/lived in Pennsylvania.  Ralph Coleman is known for Story genre illustration, religious murals, easel painting.

A native Philadelphian and a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Art, Ralph Coleman was a famed illustrator and painter.  His first illustration appeared in The Saturday Evening Post in 1915.  He went on to illustrate many more magazines and books. 

In 1942, he painted The Eternal Christ, a haunting picture of Christ on the battlefield. This painting became so popular that several million copies were distributed to civilians and soldiers during the Second World War.  He also painted many portraits of prominent Masons and Military personnel. 

He was commissioned to design over twenty windows for the Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown, PA, which were then fabricated by the Willet Hauser Studios.  He was also known to have painted in Provincetown MA.
